PACKING & TRANSPORT

Here below is some indicative information regarding the packing of the products. 

Always contact U.M. for more information before ordering. There are also some advices regarding the transport

If you have special packing requirements, please do not hesitate to ask it in your inquiry

 Pictures are indicative of packing. In some cases packing may be different than the packing shown in the photographs below.

Please do not hesitate to ask any question you might have regarding the packing

U.M., sometimes, if asked, can send you pictures regarding the packing of the products you have ordered,

provided the shipper has such possibility.

U.M.  can always send you indicative details about the packing.

You need such details when you arrange for the transport

Coils

Standard wooden palettes for sheets / plates 1 – 2000 Kgs, wooden protection on the bottom, with plastic cover on the sheets

Palettes wooden, few sheets < 500 Kgs, Wooden Protection  on bottom and full wooden coverage
on the top, with carton paper cover in between,

Palettes wooden, few sheets < 500 Kgs, with wooden protection on the bottom and sides,
and wooden frame protection on the top, with protective metal strips

Pallettes wooden, enhanced, for few sheets < 500 Kgs, wooden protection on bottom,
additional wooden part on top, protective wooden frame on top and protective strips, plastic film covers the sheets

Small wooden palettes ( approx. width – length – height 1000 mm X 1000 mm X 250 mm ),

Small quantity pipes/bars, wooden laths surrounding pipes/bars, with metallic strips,

Small quantity pipes – wooden supporting frames with plastic strips,

Large Diameter Round Solid Bars ( Rods ), covered with plastic film,
on a wooden pallette of narrow width with metallic or plastic strips,

Small quantity hollow bars with metals strips,

Paper carton boxes with metallic or plastic strips,

Plastic and paper wrap,


Coils

The “eye” of the coil is faced upwards, on a vertical position
A wooden palette has been used for the easy lift from a forklift
Wooden supports have been placed to the four corners
Wooden table has been placed on top for further protection
Strong plastic or steel stripes have been used horizontally for further support
Warning labels for extra protection have been placed
Labels showing destination, consignee, material type as well as net and gross weight
have been placed  for easy identification of the goods
Hard paper covers the coils
VERY IMPORTANT:
The side of the truck must be opened, so as the palettes
can be placed/removed  easily from the side.
VERY IMPORTANT:
In some cases, in some suppliers, the loading can take place only from above.
Please check with your transport company.

Sheets 1 – 2000 Kgs , standard packing, wooden palettes, wooden protection on the bottom, with plastic cover on the sheets

It is stowable but it must be stowable in a way that it will not harm the goods.

Usually in such cases with few Kgs weight of metal sheets,  heavy loads can’t be placed on top of the pallette.

The maximum level of weight on top of the pallette must be determined by the transport company.

There are cases where in the place of loading, the supplier does not accept other goods to be placed on top of the pallette.

It is stowable but  it must be stowable in a way that it will not harm the goods.
Usually in such cases with few Kgs weight of metal sheets can’t take heavy loads on top of it.
The maximum level of weight on top must be determined by the transport company.
Please check with your transport company.
No wooden cover on the perimeter but still a hard plastic cover and a nylon sheet cover.
Quite suitable for plastic or metallic sheets. Metal Strips hold wooden parts together.

Small wooden pallettes ( approx. width – length – height 1000 mm X 1000 mm X 250 mm ) 

Small pallette.
Usually for round bars  of small length or cut pieces from plate.
Stackable:  Best if only placed on top of other goods. Not to be placed below other goods.

Small quantity pipes/bars, wooden laths surrounding pipes/bars, with metallic strips 

Wooden packing ( wooden laths ) for small quantity of pipes and round bars, wrapped with strips. 

Large Diameter Round Solid Bars ( Rods ), covered with plastic film, on a wooden pallette of narrow width with metallic or plastic strips 

Large diameter round solid bars ( rods ) are placed on a wooden pallette cut to size.

The bars are covered with plastic film and are tied on the pallette with metallic or plastic strips.

THE PALLETTE IS PLACED ON THE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK AND IN MANY CASES DEPENDING

THE ALLOY OR THE APPLICATION, OTHER CARGO MUST NOT BE PLACED ON TOP OF THE BARS

WOODEN RECTANGULAR FRAMES AND PLASTIC STRIPS USED 

Small quantity hollow bars with metal strips  

Small quantity hollow bars tied with metal strips only.

Can be loaded / unloaded by crane to/from the roof of the truck. Placed at the floor of the truck, well tied with strips on the truck.

Other goods may be placed on top of them provided they are not heavy and provided you do not

request very strict straightness tolerances, that depends on your indented application. It can be up to the warehouse manager of where the loading takes place whether other goods can be placed on top of them
